I don't know the answer, but I presume the reasoning is to make it easier to fit a bigger master cylinder??? Boosters can be surprisingly easy to swap - f'r instance, on the HZ Holden project we're doing, we swapped a Crown booster in with minimal effort, just had to make a new rod to operate it... simple really!
