My thoughts on SPORTIVO as posted on www.rollaboyz.org.au

Cheers
Tim

Well I finally have driven the new 141kw sportivo rolla.

Nice, very nice, but just can't get over the shape at this stage.
I walked away with a smile, but no strong desire to own one.

Interior:
Class, very classy, full leather interior incl. seats door trims etc. Excellent quality too, dash panels matched well, trim was nicely finished, silver highlights centre console and power window switches. Chrome interior door handles. All the fruit, climate control, 6disc indash stacker (sounded Ok) lexus style speedo lighting (in orange). Seats were very firm though.

Exterior:
Quality again, excellent panel gap. The sportivos are actually made in South Africa. Nice little body kit, sideskirts, rear spoiler, front lip. Sportivo Badging. 16” wheels.
The problem is that it doesn’t look special enough. Its not much better looking than the 4000 odd base model rollas that Bayswater rent a car have. Doesn’t stand out!
I saw one with 17” rims and they looked small. Seriously you could lower these things 2” and still have tyre-guard clearance. A sick black one lowered 3” and with 19” rims nice……

Performance:
Amazing past 7000revs (or there abouts). You can really feel the vvti-l kick in. But who wants to ring the neck of their car all day long (well ok some do). But generally speaking to get that real kick you needed to exceed the speed limit around the streets straight up. It would be interesting to see the torque curve for it. Very late peak and over very quickly.
The engine did sound noisy from inside as well.

Overall very nice car, excellent value for money at $30000 plus on road costs.
Expect to see a lot of them on the road!!

Car supplied by Graeme Buttler @ Fremantle Toyota.
