I sure as hell can't think of anything toyota made that put the gearshift back a foot from the end of the box 
BUT, if you were to cut the stick off just above the box, and weld a suitable stiff piece of flat bar onto it, then weld a gearstick onto the end of that, it might just work, so long as you're careful to make sure there's no slop in the arrangement. On my car I've done the same thing to move the gearstick on a 45 degree angle to the box (bloody dellows bellhousing!!), although admittedly mine's only about 2 inches long, not 12
Have a go at least, you don't have anything to lose I don't suppose...
