having looked at my t-50 a while back, id say it should be possible to lengthen the rod with the cube of steel wit hthe "hole" for the bottom of the gear stick buy however mych you need, then setting up a good mount for it as per origional, then id would feel basically the same.
might take a little special welding to lengthen the rod though
