I've never driven an RX7 so I can't really draw a comparison. I do know the RX7 of the same era (series 1/2/3) is lighter than the MA61, but it doesn't have IRS. An MA61 should be somewhere between 1270 and 1350kg depending on spec, but I'm sure you could strip it down to 1200 without much effort. I don't know what RX7's weigh but it would be less than 1200.

The MA61 has McPherson strut suspension in the front and trailing arm IRS in the rear. A 7.5" clutch-type LSD is standard on Aus-spec models, and it should be a 3.9:1 ratio for manual or 4.1:1 for auto. Brakes are ventilated discs all round; the fronts are 258mm with fairly large single-spot calipers, and the rears are slightly smaller (can't remember the exact measurements right now). My brakes used to fade a bit after 7 laps on the sprint circuit at QR, but that was with badly worn discs and crappy Bendix pads; I suspect fade wouldn't be an issue with my new DBA slotted rotors and EBC pads.

As for the 5M-GE, the later versions have 170hp but it's not hard to get them up to the 200hp mark (exhaust, cams, mild porting). You could also "cheat" and put a 6M-GE crank in your 5M-GE block, but you didn't hear that from me. Wink
