Dave:
1) Gut instinct tells me the valves will slam into the side of the dome good and proper. I can't imagine any degree of flycutting will right it. Of course, a dummy fit will give the definitive answer (and I have never done this).
2) The motor was actually a 1SZFE (never released in Australia) it had shimless buckets. They are 28 mm in diameter (just like a 4AGE and, more importantly, a 7M). I don't think anyone here has actually tried it, but you might want to read the tech article. I priced them and they were about $27 each. Still exxy but way cheaper than any TRD stuff, and you don't have to pay for custom retainers and shims.
Here is that tech article: http://www.club4ag.com/faq%20and%20tech_pages/Lift er%20Tuning.html
Cheers Dave.
