I don't know the exact specs of our aussie 22REs. In other parts of the world there was the tall-block 22RE with analog EFI, then the short block 22RE (slightlky higher comp ration, different head etc) with TCCS EFI. In '85 (ie ra65 celica) we got the short block as far as I can tell, but with the older analog EFI as we were running leaded at the time and I think TCCS needs an o2 sensor. Anyway max power: 105hp@4800rpm OR* 116hp (87kw) max torque: 137lb/ft@2800rpm 140lb/ft (198Nm) compression ratio: 9.1 9.3:1 Stats should lie between the two. A few people have replaced their 22RE with a later 22R from a Hilux when it wears out, and bolted the EFI bits on no problems as far as I know. I think the head and block should be the same. EFI should give more fuel economy. I don't know why the Hilux is carbed. [Report message to a moderator]
