Ended up finding that damn VSV EVP. It was hidden under the inlet manifold in between the two knock sensors. I don't even know what it looks like. I knew that was it because of the color of the wires coming off it (and a good guess). Anyways that was the only wire that preventing me from starting the car. After that was sorted the engine fired straight away. Thanks to those who replied with their ideas it helped me alot.
