once its on the road for the first time... accelerate at full throttle to 60kph in 3rd gear then slow to 40 kph then acclerate to 60kph again and so on for about 5 times, this seats your rings into position

then, drive for 500k's not exceeding 3000rpm but dont abuse or pamper the engine at this stage, no extended periods of the same revs, i.e highway drving - no heavy loads either

for the next 500k's after that drive normally but dont over-rev the engine or pamper it - again no heavy loads

at the 1000k mark change oil and oil filter and check for any shiny metal bits - there usually a bit of black assembly lube that has been absorbed into the oil - this is not a problem

then you are ready to treat your car as you normally as you see fit... at 5000k's change the oil and filter again and check for any shiny bits - if not, praise your engine builder Razz becuase if anything was gonna go wrong it would've happened by now

of course everyones methods vary, so dont accept this as 'gospel' Confused
