Check out my site

All you need to know about the 3T GTE is there.
Yes, you can use the standard 2T, 3T mount on the drivers side and this means no other mods for that side.
Check out the 3T GTE mount and compare it to the standard 2T mount and you will begin to realise why people modify for it to fit. Its a thicker mount and suited for the extra load of the 3T GTE. The standard one is ok, but personally I like to use the 3T GTE mounts instead.
Yes, it is possible to use the standard 2T, 3T mount on the passenger side and still have room for the oil return if you modify the piping. I did this with my first 3T GTE, BUT the standard oil drain line needs to be modified and its a very TIGHT fit usin gthe standard mount. Its much easier to modify the crossmember instead.
If you do put a 3T GTE in a TA22, remember that you also have to upgrade the front brakes, suspension etc etc if you haven't already done so. Also the W55 gearbox is a good option as well as a better diff or at least LSD for the T series.
Good luck,
Simon
