Juzzo,

If the engine is apart, block off the oil return with an aluminium plate and run the oil return straight into the sump at the location that is most convenient for you (I can help you with this).

Don't worry about using the steel factory oil drain (they crack after time and cause a bitch of an oil leak + they are a in a total pain of a spot, the drain also runs straight into one of the crank counterweights), instead an "ortac" flexible rubber hose does good or some pretty braided line if you prefer.

This is just my opinion on a problem that has many possible solutions.
