Les, it may well have been a 225kW HSV. They have 6 speed gearboxes so they're not that fast off the line. Plus they have to lug around an extra third of the weight of your car!
I've raced many V8s before of all different kinds and all different states of modification and I've only been beaten once and that thing sounded like a Pro Streeter...
