I accept that quick street cars are quick street cars. Performance edges are what racing is all about. Wastegate, if you up the boost on your street car then it is technically no longer "legal" as it is illegal to play with the wastegate at all. 7M - Correctomundo, it was not aimed at you. Draven - Yes you do make the comparison between the tyres as a factor in the overall performance of the car (not just tyres vs tyres). I say if you want to compare apples with apples get yourself a box of apples. IF the apples are not what you like then don't compare (how do you like those apples?) I have the rules for ANDRA that encompass all of the rules from Super Street thru to Top Fuel and nowhere does it say that slicks are cheating. I run slicks (prolly why I am defending the cause) and once you run sub 12.5 on slicks the rules change so that you must change the front tyres to a cross ply type tyre. So running on slicks doesn't make it a dream run, rather it makes it expensive one! I can tell you that there are many cars running that are not doiong it within the guidelines (but here is not the place). I have some time cards and they read some pretty good numbers. If I run at the next meet on street tyres, I will be no better off, it won't make my car any more legal in the stewards eyes, it may mean driving home on recently ruined street tyres, and I am certain of 5 things 1) a higher MPH. 2) slower et's. 3) the power to weight ratio will be the same. 4) My ability to drive will not be in any more question than it was. 5) I will need to drive 100kM to get home.
