Wed, 23 July 2003 10:48 I agree, quoting your car to be as quick on the street as it is on the strip is not a real comparison, but you quickly learn to discredit those who are all too keen to quote 1/4 mile times in various situations (strip, gtech, stopwatch, slicks, no slicks etc.) as being the be all and end all of any comparison between cars. As so many have said, "when the flag drops, the bullshit stops". No one is really impressed by what you tell them your car could have done, it all comes down to how you run on the day, head to head with a competitor. Same goes for dyno comps. Excuses are just that. Why are slicks at the track a problem? Just as slicks are not street legal, so is removing your spare wheel, or increasing boost, or having a car over the legal noise limit............Not to mention that there aint no traction compound applied to your average strip of tar past McDonalds So how far do you go with calling anything "street legal?"
