I'm getting the same problem that you by the sound of it. Doing all the usual diagnostics etc and it seems to be related to some sort of thermostat issue. When idling, the temperature sometimes rises and falls like a thermo cutting in and out. Often stalls on idle which becomes first sign it will play up after driving OK. Tapping accelerator pedal makes the needle drop down and back up, driving brings needle nback to normal sometimes. I thought it might be the auto choke coil which is the only thing I can see with a wire hanging out of it which might get affected by the slightest tap on the accelerator peddal. Did you get to resolve your issue ?
