Its simple.. you just buy the front cut, remove the shifter, and resell.. You would be surprised how many wreckers wouldn't know that the thing has a short shifter fitted. I know it's a long shot, but might be worth a try, and might even be a profitable transaction if you could be bothered to part the front cut out.
