but brand may be important too?
i recall a couple of folks (off & on list) saying/commenting that some of the factory filters (toyota for instance) were designed to retain a lot of oil when engine was off so there was more fluid in the system/filter when you next started the engine and it took less time to pressurise all the oil galleys (as opposed to the cheapo brands)?
also, i think there would be differences in back-pressure, volume thru-put of oil, down-stream line-pressure etc depending on model/make/design of filter?
... tho as you've gone remote filter you've probably improved on the factory oil pump anyway so this is all academic? 
but if you're running a factory oil pump, then the filter should be close to factory specs/design?
