MS-75 wrote on Thu, 31 July 2003 09:52 | Biased, I'm not too sure about the weight of the motor (didn't have a chance to weigh it before installing) but all I can say is HEAVY (and LONG). Fitting it into the crown has taken the handling from awful to a bit worse than awful-overall it was bad, and still is, but I'd think that it would really ruin a Cressida. I reckon your 1UZ is a much better option for a cressida.
yep-cast iron block/alloy head
4 valve per cyl
shim over bucket arrangement
9.0:1 comp
100mm bore
95mm stroke
internal oil cooler (by coolant circuit)
Oil cooled pistons (oil squirters-ala 1J/2J)
oil scrapers/windage baffle tray (to stop oil slopping around during 4wd adventures-but will help it make a bit more power when I start to push it)
As far as strength goes, CAPA in the riverland who do supercharger kits for the 1FZ reckoned they were very strong indeed. The advice was not to bother revving it more than 6000 and make power with boost. They report 300 FWKW on about 10 psi.

Good stuff! True, the 1U is in some respects a better option due it's strength, reliability and light weight (all reasons why I chose it) but, given that the 1FZ has the first 2 criteria covered, plus it has SIZE, I was particularly interested in the weight differential between one of those and, say, one of the other common Cressida 6-cyl swap options, given that the 7M and 1/2JZs are all cast-iron/alloy-head combos...
As for the handling issues, how do plan on rectifying those? (If, indeed, you are planning to )
FWIW, I just had the suspension replaced in the Cressida yesterday - Hello Kings springs/Koni shocks struts/new bushes - Good-bye $$$... Anyway, I'll be very keen to see just how much of a difference it all makes to the handling when I "test" it at Wakefield park in August
