The best oil to use is running in oil. This is a mineral oil that has no friction modifiers. These are added to most mineral oil and are in all synthetic oil. When used in brand new engines they do not allow the piston rings ro bed into the pistons and cyclinder walls. This means that you do not get the best compression reading and can lead to oil consumption. Friction modifiers are great for run in engines because as there name suggests reduce internal friction by making everything extra slippery
