Boost is GO! Had some low speed test laps around the block on the weekend and for the first time it was generating boost. It wouldn't generate more than 1 psi in second before starting to spin-so I have no idea how much the system is set to-have to wait till Friday on the dyno. The motor behaved perfectly. It seems to start to generate boost (quickly) at 1100-1200 or so and makes the angry pigeon noise when being free-revved (no BOV yet). No temp woes at all, no funny noises. The only hitches were when it popped a couple of intercooler pipes that I had neglected to tighten. Looks like the conversion has been a success! It is quite clear that the 3.9 diff ratio needs to go as 1st is a waste of time. I need to up the ratio so 1st is the same as 2nd is now. One annoying thing came to light on Sunday though. The trans was a bit of an unknown quantity. Prior to the conversion the trans was shifting a bit funny, but it was put down to the valvebody. Now with a new modified valve body it is behaving in exactly the same way-but now it doesn't want to hold in third either. I knew that at some time I'd need to have the trans done-but it has now been pushed forward. It's annoying but it means that when I go to the track I won't be wondering if it'll hold as it will be all new. I'll probably have the extra cultchpacks put in second and all the friction material upgraded-basically then it will be a full race box (ooh ahh). It does mean the whole shooting match has to come out again though. Irritating-but it means I'll have peace of mind when I venture out onto the track.

As for the dyno, I'll still have it done on Friday, but it'll be done in 2nd gear. I'm going to take the McReary race tyres for traction on the rollers-the tractive effort in second is going to be brutal. Following the dyno session, the engine/gbox will be coming out to do the trans-and it'll also give me a chance to get few small jobs done to make the conversion perfect.

PS
As for the size of the car-they weigh in at 1310 kg according to the manual. With the bigger motor, all the associated crap, the auto trans and fluids I'd think around the 1400 kg mark. As for dimensions, about VK commodore size.
