yeah a mazda BP turbo engine will fit
BUT
i ive owned two of the cars (a manual 83 sedan and a manual 82 sedan) and its a stupid idea.
if you dont beleve me when i say its a stupid idea, you should.
you CANT run boost on a tired 323 engine and expect it not to die. the manual gearboxes are not very strong, i dunno about the autos but im guessing they suck too
do you realise those engines came stock 35kw.
if you bolt a turbo on the current engine is going to die, allow 1000 for a replacement stock engine to be put in.
i killed two of these engines in 12 months and both were in perfect condition.
if you get a BP turbo it costs 1200 or so for the engine, then you need custom engine mounts, all the electronics, custom exhaust manifold, MUCH stronger than stock gearbox, better clutch. allow atleast 3500 plus
at this point you will also need to upgrade the breaks because they fade hardcore.
the cars are not safe to take over about 110km an hour they can get to about 160 or so stock, but its fucking dangerous and the doors are nearly flying off.
they have no chassy rigidity, they will never perform well, despite them being light enough to lift the back up on your own.
tell her not to waste her money on it.
these cars can be fun to drive stock, teach her how to do handbreakies.
but seriously, its a stupid idea, i know because i wanted to do it for about 2 years in the exact same car.
