Thermofan question Thu, 07 August 2003 22:59 Go to previous message
old thermo fan switch died.. so i bought a new repco one.. i wire it up and the fan is either full on all the time regardless of temp or not on at all.

now.. heres the situation, The old set up was a temp switch with three terminals, only two wires hooked up, the temp probe going into the radiator pipe and the knob to dial the temp setting.

new one is very similar.. just looks different but has all the same things.

i have one main ignition switch wire, turns on when ign is on.

the other wire that hooks up to it switches the relay for the fan.
if i bridge the wires together... the fan works.. funny about that

if i hook it up to two of the termals on the new switch.. the fun is on all the time.. regardless of temp.. ive tried every possible combo for the three terminals, and turning the knob and heating the temp sender with no luck.. its either on or off..

before anyone pips up and says my wiring is dodgy.. its wired correctly so maybe the switch is kaput?! I bridged it together for no so i could get to work but its annoying having it on all the time.

any idea's?
