alright, considering this:

85mm bore
70mm stroke
Magnetic points
Double valve springs
9.8mm intake lift (2TG spec i think)
10.3mm exhaust lift (2tg again)

One would think that the engine would rev a bit higher. I have a lightened 6 or 6.5KG flywheel in mine, yet it gets all noisy after about 6000rpm. The engine is standard, with unknown kays, but 162-167psi compression test on the cylinders.

Timing is generally set at 12deg. More advance (upto 16) has been tried with greater bottom end and engine response, but lacking up top.... and vice versa with less base advance.

I've read that the valves tend to mushroom from hitting the seats when plenty of revs are used and bigger lift cams..

Some possibly explanations:
not all the balanced from factory
ecu has some sort of rev limit to prevent valve deformities
afm restricts air by enough to literally choke the engine.

------------

So, any thoughts on this?
