I'm having problems myself, but I'm on 40mm Solex carbies. I was thinking I may have a fuel pump problem, as it won't want to rev past 6000rpm. With standard cams, no engine is going to be making more power past 6000-6500rpm. A stock 2TG will sort of rev up to 8000rpm, depending on health and a number of things. It may not like it. You need to have longer duration cams to make power over 6500rpm. I have got mechanical noises as well, not sure what. Maybe a damaged valve spring, maybe the chain as well. Not sure.

If you want to run high rpm, the whole engine needs to be ballanced and assembled correctly with no error.

I havn't had experience with the 2TGE stuff. Maybe your injectors are maxing out due to low fuel pressure? It would be good to know what your fuel pressure was. Maybe the valve springs are a bit tired?

Get those "Group A" camshafts in and see what happens.
