Wed, 13 August 2003 07:49 Hey, I've been running one on a 3tgt for a while now. the spool up isn't too bad with a lot of boost coming on between 3500-4000 though your boost controller manifold and exhaust set-up will influence this (I'm using a turbosmart gated adjustable bleed valve). This isn't much different to the standard turbo but you're getting a hell of a lot more flow for it.The ceramic wheel is fragile but if treated right it can last a long time at decent boost levels. I've heard they can safely go up to 17psi, I've had mine up there for a bit but my injectors and pistons wouldn't support it so it's been running at around 14psi for ages with no trouble, from what I understand they'll also be running less shaft speed to produce this level of boost on a smaller capacity engine (having come from a 3ltr). If I had the chance I'd go for something a bit smaller like a t28 (200sx) for much better response time and they're pretty plentiful with a lot of scope for adjusting to your needs. From all accounts they spool up bloody quick on 4ag engines with no loss of top-end so they should work pretty well on a 1.8ltr. Tanman, how much did it cost to have yours rebuilt?
