No don't use the grinder. I am not sure because I haven't done it but IDB in Richmond did mine and I have a friend unsticth a radiator support panel using this method. Drill the spot weld but don't penetrate the second panel ie cross member. Next get a cold chisel and belt the begeeses out of it until the rest of the weld breaks. I am told it is not hard to do.
