okay, the vacuum advance/retard probably isn't working, because at idle the advance doesn't change by connecting or disconnecting the vacuum hose.

If i blow into it, or suck on the hose, it doesn't affect the timing (using timing light), a new vacuum advance/retard mechanism is $96 + GST from Toyota.

Regarding timing weights...... is there anything I can see here, or do I have to dismantle the dizzy?

I'm using a standard 2TGEU ignitor.
