 4K-C Modification Ideas Please

As i said in another thread, I -was- going to be doing up the 5K in my sedan i have, but it's going to be sold to give me some more saving money, as I purchased an 82 KE70 panelvan this week with the standard 4K-C in it.
So now im pondering ideas as to what to do with the engine in the van.
What type/size/brand etc turbo would be good for using on the 4K-C?
I went and saw Redcliffe Dyno today and one of the guys there said that going the turbo route is much better than the using gze charger, mainly because they wear out quicker, and to get maximum out of them you need to change a whole heap of other stuff, but done right a turbo setup will be better.
Any info that can help me out here, aside from the "chuck another engine in mate" etc, would be great, as i really dont know exactly what i want to do yet... though im not after a quarter mile monster, just something that can give me a nice push around the streets, and probably the odd strip run, and also pretty reliable.
