Quote: | 1. "find a stuffed 20V bottom end" - cost? where?
|
keep looking around all the forums and newspapers, they come up every now and then
Quote: | "rebuild it with os piston kit from ACL" - who? and OS being over-shim? no? or OS Giken brand? i can get a balanced kit from toda for cheap. around $1300 and are they 20v pistons to match the block or big/small port pistons to match the head? also what compression? 11.3 or 11.0? bore?
|
ACL are an Aus piston manufacturer, the kit incl. rings and gudgeon is about $250 and they only make one type for the 20V/100Kw and in standard or 1mm oversize
Quote: | get the block shaved slightly" - what cost again and where and how much??
|
I goto Terry King at dominator performance in Guildford, he is very experienced and does a good job, the block no more than 10 thou and the head around 20 thou
Quote: | "use either a bigport (for top end) or a small port head(for low down)" - how about a small port and get the ports widened up a little? he wants want half/half of power + accel. not going to be bashing 7000 rpm all day for the small port. but he wants to be able to get power when he DOES hit it.
|
its his engine he can do what he wants
Quote: | what lift? stock lift? or 8 or 9 or more? we will need to upgrade the valvetrain if it goes any higher right? is 288 too much?
|
thats up to you, you need to work out what you want to achieve with what you are able to get your hands on and go from there
Quote: | "some adjustable cam gears" - toda racing brank ok? to match the toda cams? i can get cheap toda shit thats all
|
I wouldnt waste my time on the aftermarket gears, its cheaper to get them made , im having 3 sets made at the moment which will cost around $250ish a set, if youre intereseted in one of the sets let me know, i will only have two sets spare and one is probly allready sold, ill post some pics up when theyre made up in about 2 weeks or so
Quote: | microtech and 20v throttles?
|
that sounds like a good start
Quote: | buy some alloy shaving bits and get busy with the drill port matching. use some wet and dry to smooth out the finish and clean up the ports a bit more." - drill port matching?
|
its pretty easy to do a rough job but patience will give you a good finish if you use the wet and dry as well
Quote: | Head - Already Got this bit
Head Work - $200
Head Gasket - $180 (Thickness 1.0mm / Bore 82.5mm)
Cams - In - $500 (288 / 8.5 lift)
Ex - $550 (288 / 8.5 lift)
Adjustable Cam Pulley - $500-600
New Racing Timing Belt - $300 (Toda)
Block - $350
Block Hone and Deck - $250
New TRD engine mounts - $150
Piston Kit - $1500 (for balanced toda pistons - bore 82.00mm / displacement 1,627cc /compression 11.3 : 1 )
Autronic ECU - $???
20v Quad TB - $300 (washed and polished)
Adaptor Kit - $600
|
head work is free if you do it yourself
cams are about $800 for a set
pulleys as mentioned i wouldnt pay more than $300 for a set
dont waste money on Toda crap, a standard Gates belt will be more than suitable
dont worry about engine mounts either unless they are cracked or perished
dont waste your money on Toda crap the ACL's are fine for $250
displacement 1606cc (from my memory which is pretty crap )
a form of quads anywhere from $50 to $1600
adapter plate $250
