and also a larger gap will be more likely to have the spark blow out at high rpm/WOT if the coil is not up to the job.. had that happen Wink

fwiw, for the same motors where the spec changed from non-resistor to resistor plugs, the gaps also went from the 0.8mm standard, to 1.1mm with the resistor plugs, check www.ngkspark.com.au for details...

you can use BP5EY or BP5ES, or BPRetc with no probs and probably little difference in performance.

i have points dizzy with jaycar HEI and get big sparks,

but if i go above 1.0mm gap, it is worse at both idle and WOT, less than 1.0 is good for idle, but bad for WOT....
