Alarms are just a matter of hooking the right wires up to the right places. Things needed, basic knowlage of electronics, wire cutters, some way of connecting the wires (screw terminals, crimping connectors or soldering. Screw terminals are generaly the eaisest way of doing it and are avaliable from Jaycar and DickSmith), a shop manual so you know which wires are which and if your hooking it up to an immobiliser you'll need to know which of the wires on the immobiliser do what. Sometimes you can get some sort of add on kit for your immobiliser to turn it into a car alarm. This kit would be the same brand as your immobiliser. If you used a different brand your would have to figure out which wires you were going to have to connect to what. Eg. there could be a relay that goes closed circuit when the alarm is triped and you would connect this to the immobiliser so that when the alarm is triped the immobiliser will be activated. If you were going to do this and ran into trouble hooking it up you could scan the wireing diagrams for the immobiliser and alarm and email them to me (sargmul@hotmail.com) and i could tell you which wires to connect together. And if you get real stuck i live in Maroubra in Sydney so you could come on over sometime and i could have a look at it for the price of a good joke or a pack of smokes if you cant tell a joke. I'm not a sparkie but i have an intrest in electronics. If you want to get someone to do it for you im sure you could find a sparkie who could pop it in and it should take less than an hour to hook up. Sometimes auto electricians will have a long cue of jobs and for a small job like this you would have to fit in with their sceduale. I'll add one more thing, im not really a fan of car alarms. i think a better setup is an immobiliser which can control power door locks so you get keyless entry and if someone does break in they cant drive the car away because of the imobiliser. those alarms are just noisey and who pays any attention to them anymore? also those little fake or not fake, flashing red lights a pretty cool as when a theif is looking to break into you car they see it, think you have an alarm and just move onto the next car as the one with the alarm is more hassle than its worth. Anyway, i hope this helps. Good luck with the alarm.
