Yep ive done that mod on my ae92 Levin, i only cut about 40mm off mine, and it took a while as the steel used for the shifter is very hard. Ive also unbolted the complete shifter mechanisim ans raised it 80mm to get the shifter where i wanted it

i know you can by short shifters for ae92s in the US but thats no good for a RHD vehicle as it bends away from the driving position .... maybe try TRD japan ?!
