Standard alternators from Falcon engines with electronic ignition are only 55amps, points alternators are only 40amps, for pre EA Falcons(pre 1988). You can check original fitment units, they have their rating stamped on the casing, being either "40A" or "55A".
You can find higher output alternators on later model Falcons, not sure if they're stamped liked the early units though?
