Hey Chris, Been a while, sorry about no reply to your sms, out drinking I think, *I THINK*.
Anyway, as suggested, use 100Kw head gasket. Only Toyota can supply them. I tried rocca and motor traders but I think either toyota only supplier or cheapest. ~$80. I always use Salisbury Toyota, never CMI. Head bolts were either $8 or 12 apiece.
I have seen the GZE, and am pretty dissapointed that rick split the thing as it makes more trouble. I think the valves and retainers are all in there, so you'll only be making work for yourself by stripping it to clean it and risk damaging the valve seals. Just do the best job you can with and put it back together. You will need to re-set the shim's aswell as rick did not number them, so expect some fun. For the block, just clean it the best you can. Considering it's recent storage, stripping the thing would seem over kill. If you do decide, come over and I can show you just HOW many little bits there are in there, I have a stripped 4ag.
Jaz Oh, give me a call sometime. I have 3 books that are about putting 4ag's together, including a little Japanese gem called 4AG II (how to build a 4ag without reading a thing. It is crammed full of pic's)
