My car is insured for market value, so if it ever gets written off, I'll be a lot worse off, even if I can argue it is worth more than a stock ma70. You're always worse off if you crash.
Normal car insurers generally wouldn't touch me when I was under 25 and wanted an imported (still Aust delivered) sports car (OK, OK, GT-Car ). You should have heard some of the quotes - $3900 pa for a mk2 supra!! I managed to get comprehensive insurance for the ma70 when it was NA but it cost me 1200 pa ( I was 24). When I was 25 I suddenly became a heaps good driver and the premium dropped to $800 - and didn't go up when I turbo-ed it!! Then, the insurance company had another hard look at the mods and said Nooooooo (just after the policy ran out - funny that). Remeber I've never had a crash, and at that stage by some miracle had never had a speeding fine either.
Just Cars will insure just about anyone for the money. The biggest problem I can see is that you've wasted your young life driving commodores ! Should've got a Cressie years ago - then you have more history with the insurer, probably a better claims record and would be in a better position re: insurance. That said if you are less than 25 and want a turbo.... get he wallet out.
