it really depends on the alloy. strength of aluminium can vary by an order of magnitude (10x) just by composition and heat treatment... normal alloy sheet is not good enough, as GT said, it should be at least a 6 series alloy, with a T6 heat treatment... or if ya wanna be special, a 7 series...
but all alooy shoul;d be heat treated properly, otherwise it is no better than some random piece of materil you pick up....
better to be safe than sorry....
