well that depends on what you want to measure
if you want to measure the boost in the plenum, hook it up to a fitting on the plenum. if you want to measure boost in the runners, do it there. same for throttle body, or pre-TB
it makes no difference if "it is just boost, not boost& vac" it will just not register the vacuum, even tho vacuum is applied to it....
why would there possibly be a difference in hooking it up??
and it is not a boost gauge, it's a pressure gauge that is labelled "boost" you have to hook it to somewhere that has pressure to measure. (and if it's carbed, not ported vacuum )
