Mon, 08 September 2003 04:49 Yeah I thought it was wierd that they didn't just replace the filter as standard procedure. The guy I've been dealing with at Tyrepower is trying to do the work as affordably as possible that's why I've been doing cheap things first. I think the Oxygen sensor was second hand that he put on. I can't afford to leave it with someone who's going to spend ages diagnosing the problem incorrectly and cost me a fortune in labour. We figured that a better move is to look at the most likely cause, replace it and see if the problem dissappears. It got up to the point where I replaced the 6 injectors for $600 and dammit it's still not fixed. I feel like a dunce because I don't know shit about engines and I am suspecting I'm going to the wrong person. I originally took it to Toyota Service Centre and they told me "Mate, it's an old car. What do you expect from a 1991 model? It's going to have problems..." BULLSHIT! I haven't been back. Another place said "we'll need to take the head off and look inside, it'll cost about $1100+" Huh? I need to find a competent affordable mechanic that I can trust. The guys at Tyrepower seem trustworthy but I am starting to question their competence. [Report message to a moderator]
