Handbrake turns are basically used to decrease the radius of the turn. As you turn into the corner, apply the handbrake, this will break the traction on the rear (at this point you should make sure your handbrake works on the rear brakes, not the front like some european cars!!!) in the direction of travel and allow the rear to slide out. As the car comes out of the corner you apply throttle to stop the slide and help pull the car out of the corner in a straight line!
Forget to throttle out of the corner hey?!!
