Hi Dylo, a better option is to replace the single cable from the hand brake lever with a shorter cable. I think one from an AE82 Corolla will do the job.
I think there could be RTA hassles with cable shorteners. At a pinch you could use the cable shorteners, hard to explain without pictures, but they effectively hold a semi permanent kink in the cable. Not really an automotive accessory, but should be available at the local boat supplies.
