One of the struts seems o.k. so sometimes the hatch stays up. It is heavy though, and i recon the first time it falls on my head ill end up 5cm shorter!
I bought a small spring loaded clip arm from Supercheap that locks into place then the strut is fully extended, and thus it can fall down.
