First start when its cold gives an idle of about 2,000rpm.. after about 2 minutes of idling it will drop to about 1,500 for another 5 mins or so, then drops to 950.. All 4AGE's i've seen do this. Although yours seems to take a bit longer.. Is your thermostat working correctly? On the 100kw (not sure about other 4AGEs) the cold idle is controlled by a wax pallet in the throttle body (water lines run into it), so the engine will continue to fast idle until the water temp rises to op temp.. When i did my conversion with this engine, i found it idled around 2,600rpm for a LONG time, found that the gasket inbetween the throttle body and the plenum was damaged and leaking.
