a normal standard CB is just a device that transmits on the 27Mhz range over 40 channels police use the 400Mhz frequency range and nope you can't buy them except a scanner which you can go buy at good old dicky smith depending on how much you spend can listen to a large range of frequencies an up market one costing $600-700 you could pick up anything from around 30Hz to 1700Mhz a good cheap scanner simply to pick up the main frequencies would be about $300 for a decent brand and the fun part is trying to find the frequencies the police actually use as they use different channels depending on what suburb they patrol usually you just scan through the 400Mhz band till you find them but if you live on the north shore of sydney i can give you the frequency for them. but i don't think you can use a normal scanner to pick up radars as i did some research and radars operate on a minumum of 3Ghz now i haven't heard of a scanner being able to pick up those kinda frequiencys yet unless your willing to spend big big bucks
