well... a polished metal finish will reflect some direct radiated heat, but it still absorbs quite a lot, and will absorb heat by conduction from the hot air too. what you need is to minimise the: heat absorption onto the outer side, heat transfer to the inner side, heat transfer to the incoming air. i would say the best would be to use a core of very insulating material, expanded polysteyrene comes to mind, but that is flammable and not petrol vapour resistant... maybe expanded polyurethane (i think that is what is used in industrial fridges??) like the "space filler" cans you can get.... but i'm sure you can get sheets from somewheres, mayeb try clark rubber? they might know. anyways, and then use either fibreglass or carbon fibre for the inner and outer surfaces.. bonus is you can shape the foam and lay the glass on top. laying on the inside might be interesting, but you could do it in two halves and then epoxy together. heat transfer coefficient of f/glass or c/fibre is much lower than any metal. next is to get a fridge compressor and...
