Back to basics. Do a compression test.
Check the breather lines - it may be that for some reason an excessive amount of oil is coming thru there (incorrectly connected / excessive blowby).
I remain suspicious about the head. The nature of the oil smoke (puffs on idle, big puff on take off, little/no smoke at high rpm) is suggestive of poor oil control by the valve stem seals. Could it be possible the incorrect ones were used (the 6MGE is not an Aussie delivered motor)?
As Norbie has stated, the ECU controls fuel, not oil.
