The Tasmanian Classic Challenge is a three day full road rally held over the November long weekend (2,3,4) I don’t know about the technical specs and rules, but I do know you need a properly turned out race car with all the right safety gear. Not to mentioned a bloody quick engine (this rules my 2T out of the picture...........dam)
All I have to do is turn up a week before the event to run though the stages and check the new equipment. I'll then navigate for my brother over the long weekend and go home. I don’t know if this event has a web address, as I couldn't find one. Probably not, as it more a local motorsport event, unlike the Tasmanian Lactos Rally and Targa Tasmania which are internationally recognized.
Cameron should have the car fully sorted way before I even leave Sydney, which will suit me and save on arguments later. So I guess I just rock up, so to speak!
Maybe when I get the donk sorted out in my Celica I will be able to re-pay him back with a similar mainland road rally style event. He can navigate for me and I'll pick up the tab.
We both work very long hours in different parts of Australia so I don’t know if we'll even make it this year. I just have my fingers crossed. I've always wanted to race Targa and I think the Challenge is the next best thing for our budget and ability.
I like you rally Celica photos. I used to have a Fiat 125S which I used to bush bash on weekends in Tasmania. I remember the K-mart radio flew out of the dash one weekend and cut my knee open. It was pretty funny considering the air we got off the jump. It snapped the throttle linkage and broke the clutch cable in the middle of no-where.
Would you believe my Celica has never seen a gravel road or rain since the full restoration! Back in my Tassy days I used to take the Celica out for Sunday drives, but I would turn around and go home if we come across any gravel roadwork construction. God it’s a bloody wonder my wife ended up marrying me after that sort of nutty car shit. What can I say, I'm a paint nutter.
Good luck with your beast, if you ever get sick of it try a "Z" car, I just love my daily driver 79 280ZX, especially in Sydney. People look at you like your fucking poor and stupid but its their loss. I own it and have the money to upgrade it if and when I choose!

Ha Ha makes me laugh. As long as they love their home town they won't move and fuck mine up.

Justin

How many days till I leave this state...........I'll just check, next stop boys and girls Decption Bay QLD! Pool, double garage and cheap bloody rego and insurance. Talk about heaven on a stick.
