Okay, I'm after some AE92 front inserts for my Corona TT132 struts which are in my Corolla KE35.
Now, the AE92 shock is about 50-60mm shorter then Corona item, so I'm going to space it up and this will allow me to use 3" shorter springs. Why 3"? cos I have cut one coil off the standard corona springs so that the car sits at factory height.
I am going to be running 6KG/nm or 335ft/lbs front springs, and will need some shocks to suit.
I rang a local store and they suggested these Tokico shocks for $145NZ which is about $70 USA per shock, this is very cheap. I queried them whether these would be suitable for 6KG, and he reckons that the standard Corolla AE92 runs about 300-400ftlbs. I don't believe him, I think standard AE92 would be more like 150ftlbs.
Anyhow, a revalved bilstein insert to match 6KG springs would be about $300NZ or $150 US. Hence my skeptism over the Tokico shocks.
NB: AE92 shocks also fit in AE86 struts, if you guys want shorter shocks without having to buy TRD short strokes

  UPDATE: AE92 GT have 120-150lbsft springs (2KGNm)
Apparently KYB Gas shocks for them are suitable for 350lbsft springs. Cost is ($115 NZ Retail or $55 US roughly) I've had people tell me that Monroe GT Gas would be underdampened. I don't rate monroes.... but i imagine kyb and monroes would be much the same.
  Sooooo, what are peoples thoughts?
I'm thinking I may just have to go Koni Reds ($234 NZ Retail) and have them revalved ($140 NZ retail)..... (prices each). (This is to suit 6KG - 335lbsft springs)
