they most likely wont as the steel tends to hold the heat which will cause the rubber inside to perish anyway. the best thing to do is either ceramic coat all the turbo and exhaust bits and/or do as you planned and cover the lines in heat wrap, you can also make up small heat shields they work very effectively as well.
