Guide coat: re-read what I posted, if you sand til all the guide coat is gone, you will achieve nothing!.
Sand with 800 dry lightly! the first thing you will see, is the high spots, work the high spots down to the same level as the guide coat, then keep removing guide coat, when you see patches of guide coat with nice primer all around them, these are the low spots which will require filling! Then re-prime those areas, and block off to match the surrounding finish, what you are looking for is a surface with no bumps, and no low spots.
Look along the panels changing your eye level up and down. If you reckn its good enough, then go and get a spray painter to have a look at it, these buggers know far more than anyone else, when it comes to spotting problems. If your car is nicely prepared, the workshop nice and clean, most pro painters, will only charge you a couple of hundred bucks to spray on your supplied paint. DO NOT Stress, if the job looks a little dull, or has a few nicks of dirt in it, because when it it is fully cured, and you have got the car back on the road, you can take to panel shop, for a cut and polish, another coule hundred bucks to get a mirror shine,,, well worth it.
