use the 'ohms' setting for resistance.
if your alt is putting out 14+V, and the battery is not holding charge, it is most likely the battery getting tired.
you can go get it tested at K-mart Auto, or any auto elec. or just go buy a new battery....
Sydney K-marts have 20% off auto stuff next week. that's like $20 off a battery go with something good, like an Exide Evolution, or some other heavy duty type... ya get what you pay for....
